Calls for papers

International Journal of Sport Management and Marketing
Special Issue on: “The Economics and Business of Sports”
Guest Editor: Professor Soumodip Sarkar, University of Evora, Portugal
Besides being one of the single most important factor in rising passions across the globe, sports is a huge industry. However, so far, the sports industry has received far less attention from academics, given its importance. This Special Issue will publish original conceptual and theory-based empirical papers and case studies addressing different aspects of the economics and business of sports.
Subject CoverageSome of the topics that the special issue would like to cover, but not exclusively, are:
- Globalisation in sports
- Market and economic analyses of leagues and sports teams
- Productivity measurements of player performance
- Linkages of productivity and wages
- Financial aspects of sports
- Salary caps in professional team sports
- Performance measurement of different leagues and their comparisons
- Estimations of demand for sports and sporting events
- Cost benefit analyses of major sporting events
- Advertising revenue and marketing in sports

Important Dates
Completed papers should be sent before: June 1, 2005
Authors will be notified of acceptance on: July 31, 2005
Final versions of accepted papers are to be received by: September 15th, 2005
