Special Issue on: "Low Carbon Asia"

Guest Editors:
Prof. Shiro Hori, Prof. Tetsuo Hayashi and Prof. Toshiyuki Fujita, Kyushu University, Japan

Recently the notion of the low carbon society has been receiving global attention. Particularly in Asia, rapid economic growth has resulted in a high energy consumption society. In this context the mechanisms for the development of a low carbon society are widely focused on.

This special issue aims at introducing a wide scope of research related to the energy- and environment-related aspects of developing a low carbon society. Target sectors for developing a low carbon society include residential, civil, industrial, transportation and waste management sectors.

We invite the submission of original theoretical and empirical research papers on the development of a low carbon Asia that either focus on particular Asian countries or on Asia as a whole.

We aim to publish the latest advancements in the highly interdisciplinary field of research and development for a low carbon Asia, which has applications in the fields of economics, engineering, sociology, architectonics, energy and environmental policies.

From this viewpoint, the issue hopes to promote micro and macro analyses of energy efficiency, the understanding of energy consumption, and energy-saving activities.

Subject Coverage
Suitable topics include but are not limited to the following:
  • Energy modelling
  • Energy economic analyses
  • Social research on environmental activities
