Special Issue on: "Agent and Multi-agents Systems in E-Business"

Guest Editor: Prof Costin Badica, University of Craiova, Romania

Agent and multi-agent systems are expected to give a significant impetus to all e-business application areas, such as trading and marketing, negotiation and contracting, supply chain management, etc. Significant work has already been undertaken over the past decade and more, as agents have been proposed as the next breakthrough in software development.

The main achivements include powerful multi-agent platforms based on standardised languages and architectures and innovative e-business applications. However, it is appreciated that for various reasons agent technologies have not achieved yet that level of maturity as required by advanced e-business applications. Many difficult research challenges remain, and much work is needed to adapt relevant existing agent technologies to the requirements of the new generation e-business systems.
