Information systems (IS) researchers use qualitative research methods since the nature of the IS field involves the human dimension. Most empirical IS research is based around what, how and why people plan, adopt, use, develop, implement and manage IS/IT projects. IJQISR, an international peer reviewed journal, offers a focal point and forum for those wishing to publish research relevant to using, applying, developing, innovating, evaluating, and drawing implications from, qualitative IS research.
Topics covered include
- Innovative application of qualitative research methods to any IS-related topic
- Using new qualitative research methods inherited from social science or other fields
- Innovation and development of current qualitative research methods
- Evaluating the quality of qualitative IS research
- Using qualitative research methods as a technique for IS development
- Techniques for analysing IS qualitative data
- Ethical issues and IS qualitative research
- Building IS-related theories through qualitative research
- Teaching practical qualitative research methods in IS
- Statistical analysis and reviews of qualitative research methods used in IS
- Critical reviews of qualitative IS research
- Software tools/social networks for gathering and analysing qualitative data
Objectives
IJQISR aims to provide a forum for discussing and disseminating research papers which apply and/or develop qualitative research methods and techniques in a wide range of IS topics. Any topic studying the organisational, managerial and social implications associated with planning, adopting, using, developing, implementing and controlling IS/IT in organisations, firms and society as a whole, are suitable for this journal. IJQISR strongly encourages papers which demonstrate the significant impact that outputs of qualitative research can provide to IS/IT managers and practitioners, decision and policy makers. This journal provides a single point of reference for IS scholars interested in conducting qualitative research.
Readership
IS/IT academics and researchers, policy and decision makers, IS/IT managers and practitioners.
Contents
IJQISR publishes original, empirical qualitative research and theoretical research (literature reviews, conceptual work, theories and methods development, and viewpoints). Special issues devoted to emerging topics related to qualitative research methods in information systems will occasionally be published.
