Information systems (IS) researchers use qualitative research methods since the nature of the IS field involves the human dimension. Most empirical IS research is based around what, how and why people plan, adopt, use, develop, implement and manage IS/IT projects. IJQISR, an international peer reviewed journal, offers a focal point and forum for those wishing to publish research relevant to using, applying, developing, innovating, evaluating, and drawing implications from, qualitative IS research.

Objectives

IJQISR aims to provide a forum for discussing and disseminating research papers which apply and/or develop qualitative research methods and techniques in a wide range of IS topics. Any topic studying the organisational, managerial and social implications associated with planning, adopting, using, developing, implementing and controlling IS/IT in organisations, firms and society as a whole, are suitable for this journal. IJQISR strongly encourages papers which demonstrate the significant impact that outputs of qualitative research can provide to IS/IT managers and practitioners, decision and policy makers. This journal provides a single point of reference for IS scholars interested in conducting qualitative research.

Contents

IJQISR publishes original, empirical qualitative research and theoretical research (literature reviews, conceptual work, theories and methods development, and viewpoints). Special issues devoted to emerging topics related to qualitative research methods in information systems will occasionally be published.

  • Conference papers may only be submitted if the paper has been completely re-written (more details available here) and the author has cleared any necessary permissions with the copyright owner if it has been previously copyrighted.
  • Briefs and research notes are not published in this journal.
  • All our articles go through a double-blind review process.
