Special Issue on: "Contemporary Multiagent and Other Intelligent Applications"

This special issue celebrates 10 years of IEEE International Conferences on Intelligent Systems (www.ieee-is.org). During the past 10 years intelligent systems have become one of the most rapidly developing technologies, and the prospects for the next decade look even better.

Today the mainstream of contemporary intelligent applications is following multiagent projects where the agents substitute the objects from traditional programming, evolving systems and ontology applications in collective systems aiming at elicitation and sharing the meaning (sense) of different events from the system environment. More and more applications are industrial or in security systems.

All of these interdisciplinary projects tend to involve elaboration of thinking machines where ‘thinking’ means evolutionary processing of data and knowledge. Some of them may be bio-inspired, while the others will realise next generation data/web mining. Large future diversity is the reason for a wide range of research papers in this special issue.

We welcome both empirical and theoretical contributions related to the proposed topics. Papers based on empirical data with a strong theoretical background are preferred; reviews of existing literature and references to bibliographical sources are required.

The issue will carry revised and substantially extended versions of selected papers presented at a special issue session at the IEEE 6th International Conference on Intelligent Systems (6-8 September, 2012, Sofia, Bulgaria; www.ieee-is.org), but we also strongly encourage researchers unable to participate in the event to submit papers for this call.

Subject Coverage
Suitable topics include but are not limited to:

  • Multiagent systems
  • Ontology applications
  • Data mining
  • Evolutionary computation
  • Intelligent security systems

Notes for Prospective Authors

Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. (N.B. Conference papers may only be submitted if the paper was not originally copyrighted and if it has been completely re-written).

All papers are refereed through a peer review process. A guide for authors, sample copies and other relevant information for submitting papers are available on the Author Guidelines page.
