Special Issue on: "Human/Animal Body Modelling in Biomechanics Research"

This special issue aims to present first-rate work on human body modelling, with a broad coverage of component or whole body model development, verification and validation, application and material characterisation. Research papers on animal body modelling and numerical robustness/accuracy analysis are also very welcome.

Impact injury biomechanics studies carried out with the aim of manufacturing safer cars for over half a century have with the growth of computational power endorsed computational modelling, especially in the last two decades. Computer human models have been largely improved in terms of biofidelity and robustness, and have been applied in areas beyond vehicle safety, such as in the space and medical device industries.

Despite the traditional focus of IJVS on vehicle safety, this special issue welcomes research work on human or animal body modelling, with the aim of promoting the understanding of how biological tissues respond to mechanical stimuli from well-controlled laboratory conditions to complex crash or surgical scenarios.

Subject Coverage
Suitable topics include but are not limited to:

• Biomechanical modelling
• Biological material characterisation
• Numerical analysis
• Combined computational and experimental work related to vehicle safety, sports safety, forensic investigation, blast mechanics and clinical biomechanics
• Laboratory-controlled trauma and simulation

Notes for Prospective Authors

Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. (N.B. Conference papers may only be submitted if the paper has been completely re-written and if appropriate written permissions have been obtained from any copyright holders of the original paper).

All papers are refereed through a peer review process.
