The aim of this special issue is explore the utilisation of medical, ultrasonic and X-ray imaging for pattern recognition, feature extraction and the classification of such signals and images. The key aim of the issue is to target application-oriented research in the field of biomedical signal and Imaging. It is not however limited to the aforementioned images, but will also cover inferred images for other medical applications. In addition, high-resolution satellite images can also be included in the context of extracting information by utilising imaging and AI methods.

Signal and image processing techniques, along with artificial intelligence, need to be researched to aid the development of medical imaging/satellite imaging for feature extraction and classification which provides more detailed diagnosis systems, preoperational knowledge and easier handling of medical and satellite data.
