Abstract: The rising requirement of wireless applications has set a number of boundaries on the practice of accessible radio spectrum, which is inadequate and valuable means. If examining of a radio spectrum reveals that several frequency bands in the spectrum are mostly vacant often, several other frequency bands are partly occupied and the residual frequency bands are greatly used. This directs that radio spectrum is underutilised. The underutilisation of radio spectrum is reduced by the cognitive radio (CR). CR is a demanding technology that offers a new efficient technique to progress exploitation of available electromagnetic spectrum resourcefully. CR specifies wireless design in which a transmission scheme does not activate in a predetermined band. Spectrum sensing (SS) assists to perceive the spectrum holes provided that high spectral resolution ability. In our paper, we have demonstrated the statistical characteristics of false alarm and miss detection probabilities and compared this technique with other existing techniques, and results show that our technique is superior to other existing techniques.
