The econometric model of a Ukrainian regional airport's territorial development as illustrated by Poltava

Abstract: The article analyses the use and advantages of geoinformation technologies (GISs) methods and means for design, extension, or moving airports (airdromes). It highlights modern realities in the development of a network of airports (aerodromes) in Ukraine through the example of Poltava International Airport, substantiates the expediency, and makes suggestions on extension and elaboration of Poltava International Airport by the use of the database of the State Land Cadastre of Ukraine and visualisation in ArcGis 10.2 software. The article assesses the areas of the airport and its environs; contains maps filled by types of land titles and by categories of the lands for a certain purpose. The authors ascertained that the extension of an airport should be considered not as a separate commercial project, for which financial values can substantiate the expediency of investments, but as an effective tool to increase investment and tourist attractiveness of Poltava and its region as a whole.
