Abstract: In the present work, a scheduling approach based on genetic algorithm is developed for flexible flow shop group scheduling with sequence dependent set-up time (SDST) and preventive maintenance for minimisation of makespan performance measure. The present work considers SDST among groups and among part types within a group. The performance of approach is evaluated in two manufacturing environment. Four case studies in each manufacturing environment are taken into consideration. Results indicate that the proposed methodology is able to address the various complexities of group scheduling problem with SDST and preventive maintenance.
