Abstract: Photosynthesis is a plant-physiological mechanism that transforms light energy into chemical energy. It is the only mechanism for food preparation in the form of complex sugar. Rise in the concentration of greenhouse gases (GHGs) and water vapour causes a hike in global temperature known as global warming. Increasing temperature causes climate change by changing the weathering pattern. Climate change affects photosynthesis in C3, C4, and Crassulacean acid metabolism (CAM) plants. The focus of this review is to highlight the impact of elevated CO2 mediated global warming on photosynthesis. CO2 is the most abundant greenhouse gas. The elevated CO2 level in the atmosphere increases the photosynthesis rate in plants until a certain level. Increased heat caused by higher CO2 concentration disrupts the photosynthetic machineries. Moreover, the increased level of temperature built up by a higher amount of atmospheric CO2 concentration on the C3, C4, and CAM pathway follower plants are discussed thoroughly.
