Abstract: A detailed thermodynamic analysis is carried out to study the outcomes from a 500 MWe steam power plant upon integrating molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC). The modelling and analysis of the power plants are performed using a computer software program, Cycle-Tempo. The proposed plant with carbon dioxide (CO2) utilisation factor, ϕf = 90%, has improved the steam power plant's net energy efficiency by 17.87%. The integrated plant produces 724.11 MWe net power output with energy and exergy efficiencies of 37.91% (higher heating value basis) and 34.69%, respectively.
