Abstract: Occupational culture arises from a set of tasks that are repeated and put into routines in various degrees, producing a set of attitudes and explanatory structures of belief. In this paper we focus on organisational culture in terms of occupational culture in police organisations. The principal works of the police vary in method, in conceptual focus, and in depth of analysis. In this paper we study criminal investigation units that have a knowledge-centred culture to solve crimes. Based on a survey in Norway, we found that a culture characterised by cooperation and hierarchy has a positive impact on police investigation performance.
