Abstract: The fundamental objective of this paper is to test the effects of burnout on the intention to leave among the employees of public commercial banks in Bangladesh. Simple random sampling techniques with 249 employees have been taken as the sample size in this paper. The AMOS and SPSS software have been used for data analysis. It is found that burnout explained 49% variance in turnover intention (R2 = 0.49), and significant positive effects of burnout has been found on turnover intention (β = 0.07, p < 0.000). The assumptions of two theories (social exchange and JD-R theory) of this study are relevant to the banking environment of Bangladesh. In practical application, banking authorities can be made aware of the approaches that can minimise the rate of intention to leave of bank employees and increase the awareness of the negative effects of burnout.
