Abstract: Co-processing of municipal solid waste in cement kiln can reduce the use of conventional fuel like coal and also greenhouse gas emissions. In a country like India where the amount of waste generated is very high which can cause both environmental and health issues, co-processing could be a win-win situation for all the stakeholders since it helps in both proper waste disposal and management by the municipal cooperation and reducing the emissions and adoption of alternative fuel by the cement manufacturers. This paper reviews the possibility of using MSW in co-processing in cement industry and the problem that are being faced while using this method of waste management. Few models are also explained which are currently adopted in different cities of India which further analyse the situation and issues in the country for the use of MSW.
