Efficiency and performance of solid waste management in Cumilla City Corporation, Bangladesh

Abstract: Proper management of solid wastes may provide us with a healthy life and a healthy earth. But in recent years in Bangladesh, solid waste has become a social problem that is also considered an environmental hazard because of improper waste disposal and management. This paper aims to assess the efficiency and performance of solid waste management (SWM) in Cumilla City Corporation (CuCC). A structured questionnaire survey had been used for the primary data collection using simple random probability sampling. The findings of the study show that there is no adequate management for solid waste in the study area. As a result, the efficiency of CuCC is not satisfactory and the management system is not effective.
