Abstract: This article conducts relevant research on the performance of lithium batteries in new energy vehicles after preheating. We analysed the preheating performance of lithium batteries for 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, and 25 minutes under ambient temperatures of -40°C, -30°C, -20°C, -10°C, and 0°C. We tested the internal resistance state, capacity state, charging time, and temperature response efficiency of the lithium batteries, in order to analyse the preheating performance of new energy vehicle lithium batteries under low temperature conditions. After testing, it was found that preheating the lithium battery for 25 minutes under the lowest ambient temperature of -40°C can maintain the AC impedance of the battery at 2.3 m Ω, restore the capacity to 1,600 mAh, reduce the charging time to 1.62 hours, and reduce the temperature response time to six seconds. Therefore, it is concluded that preheating lithium batteries in a low-temperature environment can reduce their AC impedance, increase their usable capacity, shorten charging time, accelerate their response time to temperature, and improve their performance.
