Abstract: This study presents a systematic review of factors in augmented reality studies from 2017 to 2022. The PRISMA guideline was employed to select the relevant publications from Scopus and Web of Science. Based on the results extracted from 52 articles, a total of 122 unique factors were evaluated. The formation of 13 clusters from 25 theoretical frameworks indicated a lack of consensus among researchers. Theoretical model verification was mostly accomplished using the TAM model with external factors. Satisfaction, enjoyment, visual appeal and interactivity were the emerging factors of interest. Thirty-four association rules highlighting the factors being studied together were identified. For hypothesis testing, 377 out of the 471 hypotheses were supported, while 94 were rejected. Enjoyment, effort, visual appeal and knowledge were considered reliable emerging predictors. Meanwhile, ease of use needs to be revisited. The findings might help experienced researchers remain informed, or new researchers incorporate factors into their AR development.
