Abstract: Animation is very helpful in teaching pharmacology courses that have a lot of abstract concepts. This study is aimed at explaining the effect of using instructional animation on practical skills in dissecting heart and kidney organs. This is experimental-interventional research and 60 pharmacy students participated in this study in 2021. The experimental group learned about the circulatory system and urinary system through watching animation without using the lecture method and the control group learned only through lectures. The students' skills were evaluated by an assessment checklist using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) in SPSS 24 software. A question from the checklist that scored less than 0.79 on the CVI index was modified according to the panel of experts and replaced with an appropriate question. For reliability, the observer method was used, and the kappa coefficient obtained was acceptable and above 0.6. The results showed that there was a significant difference in scores between the control and experimental group in the post-test. The results show that the use of animation without using the lecture method has a positive effect on the performance of pharmacy students and there is a significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the post-test.
