Abstract: This research seeks to understand the motivations underlying the ambitious aspirations and entrepreneurial process of hawkers. The methodology used in this research is based on crucial data collected from 1,200 street vendors in Tamil Nadu. Eight locations from the state were chosen for this assessment using varied sample technique. Within the eight districts, we used a 'spatially stratified sample' to select 150 hawkers per district for the study. As the data lacks multivariate normality, PLS-SEM is considered an appropriate method to study the impetuses behind the entrepreneurial intention of hawkers. The analysis of the structural model reveals that rational economic decision, economic necessity and perceived behaviour control were the only three exogenous constructs having a significant positive impact on the entrepreneurial intentions of the hawkers.
