Abstract: Green logistics relates the social, economic, and environmental aspects that form a significant part of the sustainable development model. Considering the aforementioned aspects, the present study examines the use of electric commercial vehicles as part of the 'green' transportation framework that can be utilised for day-to-day garbage disposal in urban areas. The linear programming model approach with a genetic algorithm is used to optimise the routing using MATLAB. This paper applies vehicle routing for garbage disposal through electric vehicles to achieve much greater ecological and financial sustainable development. The model is demonstrated by a real-time case study in a city in Andhra Pradesh, India, to address vehicle routing and waste disposal logistics. The results indicate the benefits of this approach in sustainable planning in terms of placement of charging depots with respect to the traffic, cost-effective routing and the maximum traffic concentration.
