Abstract: Quartz polymeric fibre with cyanate ester resin make composite which finds significance in military applications due to its high performance and excellent properties. To obtain quality holes, abrasive waterjet machining (AWJM) is considered a promising non-conventional process because of its excellent machining characteristics. This study is aimed to machine hole on quartz composite using AWJM and analyse the effect of process parameters namely waterjet pressure (P), standoff distance (Sd) and abrasive flow rate (ma). Hole quality characteristics namely delamination factor, diameter, cylindricity and surface roughness are considered. Vacuum assisted resin transfer moulding (VARTM) process was adopted for manufacturing of the laminate. Full factorial design was considered and experiments were carried out. Results showed that the maximum influence on delamination, diameter, cylindricity is by waterjet pressure and its corresponding contributions are 36.98%, 80.19%, 59.29% respectively. Similarly, the major influence on surface roughness is standoff distance and its contribution is 39.08%. Further, optimal solution was obtained and validated with regression equations with a maximum error of 9.11%.
