Digital banking and fintech services adoption analysis: a case study on non-resident Indians

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to explore various feelings of an NRI leading to adoption of Indian digital banking and fintech services while residing overseas. Purposive criterion sampling was used to select NRIs. Only those who registered with Digital banking and fintech services provided by one of the largest PSU banks in India were selected. 15 respondents were interviewed through face-to-face semi-structured interviews and telephonic interviews. The data were analysed with the help of a qualitative technique, thematic analysis. Results show that NRIs feel optimistic about using Indian digital banking and fintech services. Indian diaspora has trust and satisfaction towards services provided by Indian banks. Social influence and feeling of 'Indianness' play a significant role in adopting Indian digital banking and fintech services. This paper conducted a qualitative study of the adoption of Indian digital banking and fintech services by NRIs, which expanded the existing literature on the topic.
