Abstract: This study aimed to analyse the development of sustainable innovation capability in industrial companies in southern Brazil. The study was conducted by surveying 142 large- and medium-sized industrial companies and quantitative data analysis through structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). This study provides empirical evidence of the skills, processes, and routines of dynamic capabilities that can be explored and developed to improve the development of innovations that support the pillars of sustainability and leverage their sustainable innovation capability. In addition, this manuscript contributes to the theoretical framework around understanding how sustainable innovation can become a dynamic capability and favour an organisation to adapt, change, and innovate towards new sustainable paradigms.
