SAP system implementation: a case study in Carrefour Turkey

Abstract: Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are modular application software with a central database. They provide integrated and multi-functional business environment to companies. They integrate all departments and functions across a company combining business and information technologies concepts. Users can reach to real time, accurate, one-source, and online information. SAP Company is the pioneer ERP system vendor in the world. This paper presents the implementation of SAP system at Carrefour Turkey with the details of the project phases. With the investment of around $14 million in the field of technology, Carrefour Turkey completed the SAP transformation project. The project was completed in ten months with intensive teamwork. They transformed the existing information technology structure into a flexible infrastructure that supports localised, scientific retailing, and fast business decisions. New system is offering business intelligence features for the data analysis to develop new insights.
