Abstract: The primary objectives of this study are manifold: firstly, to engender the development of a monitoring and warning system endowed with the capability to discern and mitigate Spodoptera litura Fabricius infestation in real-time; and secondly, to undertake a comprehensive evaluation of the system's efficacy vis-à-vis its ability to avoid crop damage and enhance overall yield and quality metrics. To achieve these objectives, our research adopts a multifaceted approach that harmonises advanced technological methodologies with empirically-driven field validations. We use a rigorous evaluation method, conducted the test in the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute, Ministry of Agriculture and collaborate with local farmer's associations in the farm field. Through comparative analyses the automated monitoring methodologies with conventional manual monitoring practices, our research expects to substantiate the efficacy and reliability of the developed IoT-based monitoring and warning system in mitigating Spodoptera litura Fabricius infestation. Ultimately, our findings aspire to furnish empirical insights that underscore the pivotal role of IoT-enabled solutions in catalysing proactive pest management practices within contemporary agricultural landscapes.
