Abstract: The diffusion of internet applications globally depends on both demand and supply of internet access. Industrial countries have the majority of both, while developing countries are still struggling to find a way to set up a useful and sustainable online presence. This article discusses some important factors affecting the demand for internet access in developing countries, and presents an econometric model, which proves that investment in education is the key factor in increasing demand for internet access.
