Abstract: In this paper, presented to the 'Licensing in Europe' Conference, 23-24 June 1988, London, the author argues for an extended concept of technology transfer and exchange, which combines technology commercialization and technology acquisition. A 'cross-fertilization' model is proposed as a mechanism to help identify alternative opportunities applicable to the extended technology transfer and exchange process.
