Abstract: Laminated ZrB2/SiC ceramic composites were fabricated through roll-compaction and hot-pressing. To improve the densification of SiC interlayers, a small amount of B and C were added into SiC interlayers. The results showed that the addition of B and C was beneficial to the densification of SiC layers and could avoid cracking from interlayers. The laminated composites showed the highest bending strength and nominal fracture toughness of 288 ± 32 MPa and 9.73 ± 0.43 Mpa m1/2, respectively. The laminated structure mainly contributed to high toughness of the laminated ZrB2/SiC composites through crack deflection along the interfacial layer repeatedly.
