Abstract: This paper discusses a review of literature of covering problem. Facility location problem is an important area in operations management. Within the facility location problem, covering problem aims to locate the minimum number of facilities to cover the given number of customers. This problem comes under combinatorial category. Hence, researchers have concentrated in the development of heuristics to get near optimal solution. In the process of developing heuristics, some researchers have developed mathematical models for the same problem for the purpose of comparing their results with optimal solutions. In this paper, a comprehensive review of literature of the covering problem is presented.
