Abstract: Ranking and selection of an alternative amongst many, based on a set of conflicting criteria/attributes are important in multi-criteria decision making problems. Lot of decision making tools with diverse features have been developed in last thirty years. This paper proposes a new method for multi-objective optimisation with discrete alternatives: multi-objective optimisation on the basis of simple ratio analysis (MOOSRA). Like MOORA, the computational procedure of this tool is simple. To understand the applicability of this method a set of published decision making problems have been considered. The results obtained using MOOSRA method have been compared with those obtained by other methods, particularly MOORA method. The distinctive features of the method compare to MOORA, have been highlighted.
