Abstract: The reduction of surface pressure of blunt bodies in two dimensional supersonic flows is investigated in regard to the application of opposing jets originating from the centre of the blunt body. The effect of application of the jet from a spike attached to the blunt body is also investigated. Results show good correlation with previous studies regarding blunt and opposing jets. Data has been gathered on the blunt body surface pressure fluctuations and bow shock frequency. In this paper, it is shown that drag reducing properties of opposing jets can be enhanced when the jet originates from a relatively short spike attached to a blunt body.
