Abstract: The goal of this study was to develop a tyre model able to capture the tyre dynamic behaviour while traversing over an uneven rigid surface. Further, since the tyre model was intended to be used in vehicle dynamic simulations, to preserve its computational speed close to that of the vehicle model, a simplified tyre model with empirical data was proposed. The proposed tyre model takes advantage of modelling the wheel-tyre assembly as a single point contact model, in certain situations, and combining this approach with a more complex model. Moreover, for the short wavelength surface, the tyre enveloping property has been shown to have significant effects on tyre behaviour and is taken into account in this study. To account for the tyre parameter uncertainties, the deterministic model has been extended to a stochastic one, using a polynomial chaos methodology. Simulation results for selected ground profiles are presented. The results were compared with available data from the literature.
