Abstract: Experimental work has been carried out to determine the vibration response of the driver's and passengers' seats in typical Indian buses on typical Indian roads at 30 km/hr and 60 km/hr. The vibration response at these points has also been analytically arrived at by feeding experimentally determined road undulation data as inputs to a finite element model of the bus and by using the concepts of random vibration. Whole-body vibration exposures at the said points have been determined analytically and compared with allowable vibration exposure limits as specified by IS0 2631. The exposure times required to reach IS0 boundaries have also been computed.
