Abstract: On the basis of Nagel-Schreckenberg (NaSch) traffic flow model, a new Three-lane Fuzzy Cellular Automaton (TFCA) model for mixed traffic with buses is established. In our study, the fuzzy control rules are used to determine the random parameters which are capable of describing the mixed traffic flow, especially the braking rate, lane change rules, overtaking and random slow mechanisms of buses are reset just for analysis of psychological factors of bus drivers. Finally the developed TFCA model has been validated by using computer simulation. The results show that the model could be used to reveal the essence of urban three-lane mixed traffic flow characteristics.
