Abstract: The recent development of interest in fundamental combustion research has been motivated by considerations of energy conservation and environmental protection. Deeper understanding of combustion is now needed, and this will involve non-intrusive measurement techniques. The three commonly used laser spectroscopy techniques: Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF), Raman Scattering, and Coherent anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy (CARS), are briefly presented and are illustrated with some typical figures.
