International Journal of Vehicle Design (IJVD), Vol. 12, No. 2, 1991

Abstract: This is the second paper in a two-part study of the electronic windshield wiper system for passenger cars. This paper summarises the study of the wiper control strategies and the investigation of system sensitivity. Several wiper control strategies are discussed. Simulation and experimental results of these strategies are compared and judged to be in excellent agreement. System sensitivities due to variations in wiper friction, battery voltage, motor winding temperature and gear efficiency are simulated and discussed. This study illustrates the effectiveness of using model-based design for the system approach of the electronic windshield wiper system.
