Abstract: According to the definition of CIMdata, Product Data Management (PDM) supports management of both data and the product development process during the total life cycle of the product. However, several problems exist with the adoption and implementation of PDM functionality in organisations. To learn more about the consequences of selecting and implementing PDM functionality, we have performed a survey in Dutch organisations already using PDM functionality. The survey is a step in our research aimed at developing a methodology for selecting and implementing PDM functionality in a specific context.
