Abstract: The goal of this project is to study the effects of anion on the optical performance and chroma index of cobalt colour glass. In this paper the effect of anions NO3−, SO42− and F− will be studied on the optical performance and chroma index of this blue melted glass coloured by cobalt. This blue glass is to be produced from the glass raw material, Na2O-CaO-SiO2, as fundamental material with addition of cobalt oxide (CoO) in combination as colorants. The analysis of spectrum transmittance and chroma index has been carried out on the plates of this blue glass by spectrophotometer SP-1920. Results indicate that the optical performance and chroma index of this blue melted glass largely depend on the factors such as nitrate ion, sulphate ion and fluorine ion.
