Abstract: Based on the state equation of a SISO nonlinear rational NARMAX model, this study examines the input-state linearisation problem. Relying on the concept of accessibility, a sufficient condition is given in order to transform a realisable SISO nonlinear rational NARMAX model into a linear and controllable one. The results of this work are applied to some examples, showing that they can be applied not only to academic examples but also to physical systems. Additionally, an output regulation problem for this class of nonlinear rational systems is solved via the state-space pole-placement design.
