Abstract: In order to improve security issue and life time of rechargeable wireless sensor networks, we propose a light-weight linear network coding cipher algorithm for rechargeable wireless sensor networks which only use the basic arithmetic operation instructions. This algorithm uses linear network coding to encrypt the data packets which are transmitted in the rechargeable wireless sensor networks. Based on our findings that the conventional encryption protocols of public key algorithm and symmetric key algorithm may not be optimal for rechargeable wireless sensor networks, we propose light-weight linear coding (LWLC), a fundamental arithmetic instruction that utilises randomised rotation of coefficients. LWLC incorporates encryption process into the transmission mode which can reduce the amount of energy dissipation. Simulation results show that LWLC can achieve a particular lower energy consumption compared with traditional AES algorithm.
