Abstract: In a recent study (Chen et al., 2014), a location-based service (LAS) system was designed for guiding park-and-ride users. However, in this service system, the formulae developed for evaluating utilities have some discrepancies, which motivated us to discuss the problems associated with weighted average and ordered-weighted average applications in the fields of LASs and ambient intelligence. This technical note reviews these discrepancies and provides corrections for overcoming them.
