Abstract: Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles have been successfully deposited onto acid treated carbon nanotubes via a simple chemical route. It was demonstrated that the CNTs were coated by well-dispersed TiO2 nanoparticles. The CNTs-TiO2 nano composites were characterised by XRD, FTIR, SEM, EDAX and TEM. The photo catalytic activity of the prepared nano composites was tested under UV irradiation using the results of phenol degradation. Different composites were used as catalyst to investigate the effect of CNTs type and TiO2/CNT mass ratio on phenol removal. UV-vis spectroscopy was used to measure phenol adsorption.
