Abstract: Because of the special characteristics of aero-engine precision-forging blade edge, the edge profile shape errors are easily caused by using conventional processing methods. The purpose of this research is to improve real-R profile shape errors and also exploring the belt grinding mechanism for the high-strength materials. Firstly, the grinding characteristics and process planning to the blade real-R edge are analysed. And then, the methodology of EBG with CBN belt is illustrated, at the same time, the control equation for EBG is established. Finally, the method of EBG with CBN belt is analysed by the experiment investigated to the aero-engine precision-forging blade, comparing to the method of hand. The experimental results show that the real-R profile shape errors ≤ ± 0.07 mm, and the real-R shape smoothing, profile clear and the inter sectional surface smooth transition. It is verified that the method of EBG is better than the conventional method.
