In search of possibilities for action
by Judith Dellheim
International Journal of Sustainable Development (IJSD), Vol. 19, No. 2, 2016

Abstract: The overarching question on how to overcome the present great and complex crisis is being asked by many people in addition to many scientists following more specific approaches. This contribution presents a political economy-based, socialist-accented approach to the transformation debate, focusing on the search for possibilities for action and thus on ideas of a transformation process within everyday social life. It addresses the debate on sustainability 'from below' without minimising the importance of government action, or of the activities of official international organisations and treaties. The central concern of the paper is to contribute to the development of an independent understanding of one's own thinking and action on the part of relevant agencies.
