Abstract: With the growth of the higher technical educational institutions and the dynamic, social and economic environment, there is a need for constant evaluation that is based on firm values and principles. The evaluation criteria need to consider the expectations of the program stakeholders. This study attempts to identify the indicators for evaluating a higher technical educational institution in India based on the students' expectations. These criteria are categorised as aesthetic, utility/economic and social value to demonstrate the relevance of it. The evaluation model is derived from Daniel Stufflebeam's Context Input Process and Product (CIPP) model of evaluation. The case study method was used and data were collected from 20 students using open-ended one on one interview at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB). Based on the analysis, the criteria and indicators and the value that is derived from them have been proposed in two-dimensional matrices.
