Abstract: In this paper a simple and inexpensive method of preparing carbon-based nanomaterials via Co catalyst has been demonstrated. It was shown by using various optical and structural characterisations that well-graphitised carbon nano spheres can be prepared through the proposed process. Through the data extracted from Raman spectra it was found that the as deposited samples showed much lower Id/Ig than previously reported candle-synthesised carbon nanomaterials. Furthermore, under optimised condition, it was found that low resistivity sample can be produced which could be potentially useful in applications as counter electrode in dye sensitise solar cells.
