Abstract: In only two years since its beginning in April 2004, an active and international group of researchers, scholars, teachers, students, practitioners and policymakers concerned with the subject of Information Systems for Crisis Response and Management (ISCRAM) has evolved into a global R&D community. In addition to annual conferences in Europe and the USA, the ISCRAM Community established an online presence through iscram.org with close to a thousand registered users from 80 different countries. In this short communication, we introduce the ISCRAM R&D community and provide an overview of its current activities. We also present a number of emerging themes within the community and the research and development agenda this could define.
