Abstract: This paper presents an inventive software process of finding the most optimised solution to the operational shipping crew assignment and scheduling problem. The contribution of this paper is two-fold. First, a more comprehensive description and modern approach of the shipping personnel recruitment and screening process is given. Second, a notable mathematical and software model has been proposed in order to capture the various constraints and objectives found in that kind of problems. The recommended method is successfully tested and evaluated on several different scenarios using real data. The obtained results verify the high computing performance of the method in terms of the execution time performance, CPU and memory utilisation for the achieved objectives.
