Abstract: Gaining competitive advantage is the key focus of firms in current unprecedented and turbulent times. The current research contributes to the knowledge on supply chain dimensions and their relationship with competitive advantage. By developing and researching on a conceptual framework of supply chain practices and competitive advantage constructs and analysing a number of automotive manufacturing organisations with a valid and reliable survey instrument, the research study has not only investigated and represented the relationship between the supply chain practices and competitive advantage, but also demonstrated meaningful interpretations on achievement of superior performance through supply chain dimensions. Therefore, this paper aims to develop a novel conceptual model and suggest its application in the automotive industry in India. Finally, from the results it may be inferred that there is significant contribution of flexibility and delivery on competitive advantage in automotive organisations in India.
